HATTA CITY TOUR
Overview
Begin a full-day journey to the historic village of Hatta—nestled in the Hajar Mountains and the only mountain resort in the UAE. The tour begins with a scenic drive along the Hatta Highway, which briefly skirts the border with Oman, offering stunning desert and mountain views.
A short stop at a traditional local market provides a chance to stretch your legs and soak in the local culture before continuing to Hatta Heritage Village, a charming enclave that captures the rustic beauty and traditions of Emirati life.
The landscape transforms as we venture deeper into the mountains—lush greenery, dramatic curves, rugged trails, and uniquely shaped rock formations offer a truly adventurous experience. Along the way, we explore the region’s iconic wadis (seasonal riverbeds), where natural pools and deep rock trenches invite you to take a refreshing dip.

What do we see/do on a Hatta tour?
Hatta is an alpine town in the Dubai emirate’s mountains. A typical tour visits Hatta Dam (sometimes with a kayaking or paddle-boat activity in the lake) and the Hatta Heritage Village (a restored old village and fort). Optional activities include mountain biking or short hikes. You’ll drive through scenic mountain roads and get panoramic views (photo stops) along the way. (Some tours also stop at Hatta Hill Park or a local farm.)
How long is the trip and is transport included?
Pickup (early morning) from Dubai and return by late afternoon. The drive is ~1.5–2 hours each way. Tours usually last a full day (8–10 hours) including stops. Yes, round-trip transportation is provided – typically by AC SUV or minibus. Since it’s in the mountains, dress in layers (it can be cooler) and bring water for the drive.
What activities are offered?
Besides sightseeing, Hatta tours often include kayaking on Hatta Dam. You may rent a kayak or paddle boat (for an extra fee) to explore the turquoise waters against a mountain backdrop. Other options sometimes include mountain biking rentals or archery. The Heritage Village lets you walk through traditional stone houses and a fort. These activities highlight Hatta’s outdoor adventure vibe.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear sturdy shoes and bring sun protection and water. Clothing in layers is advised (especially October–March when it’s coolest). If kayaking, a quick-dry outfit or swimwear is useful (life jackets are provided). Overall, be prepared for some light hiking or walking on uneven terrain.
Is food provided?
Usually a lunch stop is arranged in Hatta at a local restaurant (cost extra). Some tours include a simple Arabic meal (lunch/dinner) at camp. Otherwise, bring snacks or plan to buy lunch in town. Drinking water is essential (bring your own or buy there), as mountain villages have limited options.
Best time to go?
The cooler months (October–March) are ideal. Summer is very hot even in Hatta. Early morning departures help avoid midday heat. If booking in summer, expect midday temperatures over 40 °C, so plan accordingly.
