What is a dhow dinner cruise?

A dhow cruise is a dinner cruise on a traditional wooden Arabian vessel. In Dubai, these cruises usually operate in Dubai Marina or on Dubai Creek. The dhow is lit up and gently sails past city landmarks. This is a relaxed evening outing combining sightseeing, dinner, and entertainment on water.

What's included?

Most dhow cruises include a buffet dinner (Arabic and international dishes), unlimited soft drinks/tea/coffee, and live entertainment like a Tanoura (spinning) show and live music. Some also have puppet or magic shows for children. On many cruises, you’re free to walk on the upper deck for photos. Duration is typically 2–3 hours. Alcohol (beer/wine) is usually available for purchase on board.

Is vegetarian food available?

Yes. The dinner buffets are usually plentiful and include vegetarian and meat dishes. Common offerings are grilled meats, rice, salads, and vegetable curries or pasta. While Arabic cuisine is featured (hummus, falafel, shawarma), international dishes (grilled chicken, fish, rice, veggies) ensure vegetarians are well catered. Always confirm with your operator, but vegetarian guests are well accommodated.

Can children go on dhow cruises?

Yes, dhows are family-friendly. Children enjoy seeing the city lights from the water and often the kid-friendly buffet options. Keep in mind safety: dhows have railings but it’s still a boat, so supervise kids around the deck. Many cruises allow bringing small kids (even infants) without extra charge, but car seats are not provided.

How do we board the dhow?

Boarding points depend on tour operator (Marina docks or Creek docks). Once on board, crew shows you to your table. Boats depart on schedule. Life jackets are kept on board (by maritime law), and there is usually an explanation of safety procedures, but for a slow cruise in calm waters, major precautions are minimal.
